TT: Corona regni Satanae

Polish sickness deluxe. There’s virtually no information of this band, whatsoever, on the internetz. I’m guessing this is due to them having both Khadaffi, George W. Bush and Bin Laden on their roster, and thus need to keep a low profile. What they sound like is almost as big a mystery. Drenched in a muddy production, down-tuned, disjointed and chaotic riffs are churned out through the meat press, while demented howls and growls propagate the end of the world in a whirling mass of spikes, leather and spiky leather dildos. (It’s in incomprehensible Polish, so I’m guessing here.) The tempo is sometimes very low, sometimes blastbeaty fast, and the tempo changes are not precisely what you would call smooth.

The atmosphere is oppressive for sure, and there’s definitely an industrial vibe to this doomy tangle of entropy and misanthropy. Apocalyptic is the word I’m getting at here, but it seems a bit too pretentious so I’ll not mention it. (D’oh!) Though the album’s effect is undeniable, I’m thinking it’ll wear off. The lack of good riffs is evident, as everything is just used as a tool to permeate the twisted feel. Nothing wrong with that per se, but in the long run you’ll get bored.

6/10: When you find yourself in the mood where the whole world seems like the most hostile place on Earth (wat?), and you just want to head-butt the cashier at the grocery store in his smiling, false fucken face, put on this record. It’ll probably make you enjoy the bone-splintering crush even more.
